Choosing the right storage unit

Many storage units have come up in New York and other US cities in recent years. But do all of them provide the best storage facilities? For anyone planning to store his/her belongings in a storage unit, choosing the right unit is of paramount importance. Selecting the right storage unit will go a long way when it comes to ensuring the safety of your household or office items.

Here are some of the factors your should look into while choosing a storage unit-

The security is of prime concern. It is important to ensure that the storage facility uses the best surveillance cameras, fire alarm and other security equipment. This is important to prevent theft.

Cleanliness is another important factor. Besides general cleanliness, the storage units should take pest control measures. Considering the fact that pests can cause severe damage to household items, it is essential that the storage facility remains pest-free.

Also, make sure that the location of the storage unit suits you. It should not be located too far from your home. Most companies offering storage in NY offer round-the-clock access to your stuff

Keeping the above factors in mind will help you choose the right storage unit.

  1. I'm thinking about renting a storage unit, and these are really good tips to keep in mind. When it comes to the safety of the facility, which you said is the prime concern, can you just ask the owners what it's like? I'm not sure if it would be rude to straight out ask them if they have a fire alarm or not, but I'm not sure how else I would be able to tell if they did.

  2. I also agree that security is a prime factor to consider when looking for a storage facility to store your things with. In regards to Angela's question, it is not rude to ask if there is fire alarm in the unit. You want to know your things will be safe while at the facility. In my opinion there is nothing rude about you wanting your stuff safe. http://www.nebraskastorageunits.com/about-us.html

  3. Just like you, my highest priority is the security of the unit. My husband and I are moving to the city, but only for 9 months, so that he can finish school. We will need to get a storage unit for our stuff while we are gone, and I don't want to have to worry about it. Also, I want to make sure that we choose somewhere that is relatively clean.
